Sommelier (male/female)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for creating wine list and/or amending the existing one
- Daily requisition of wines as per the needs and stock limits
- Maintain and rotate wine stock
- Selecting wines and beverages and pairing them to the food menu
- Ensure that all drinks in the restaurant are served at the correct temperature and in the correct manner
- Ensure that all drinks are served with the proper garnishes and in the correct glassware
- Promote and maximize beverage sales
- Responsible for the proper use and maintenance of all associated equipment
- Conduct wine tastings and train F&B staff on wine on weekly basis
- On the occasion of a event, a wine pairing must be designed as per the guests preferred food menu
- Providing private wine sessions to any guest will request for
Essential requirements
- Minimum of 2 year experience in a similar position
- Advanced International education or certification in wine studies (min of WSET 2 or relevant diploma required)
- Expert knowledge of Greek wines and also International
- Very good knowledge on menu cocktails, beers and spirits
- Have a base knowledge and understanding of classic cookery – Greek cuisine is essential
- LHW or other 5* International Hotel Chain experience
- Previous experience on fine dining restaurants
- Ability to speak, write and converse in both Greek and English
- Customer and sales oriented
