Role Summary
The Senior Medical Affairs Scientist (Sr MAS) is the company's medical Point of Contact for HCPs, medical societies, regulators, academia, and other external scientific stakeholders.
Drives and represents medical expertise and leadership for the assigned products' portfolio of the relevant therapeutic category in the country. The role works closely with colleagues within the local Therapeutic Area (TA) and other scientific platforms, as well as colleagues above country, to provide medical input regarding local strategic and operating plans, identify data gaps, drive local clinical plans, and lead scientific discussions with key customers within appropriate regulations and guidelines.
The Sr MAS is responsible for maintaining the highest scientific standards, independence, and compliance in every medical/scientific external activity, as well as respective internal processes.
Role Responsibilities
- Assumes full medical responsibility for assigned Pfizer product/s in Greece, Cyprus and Malta. Develops and implements customer-focused medical strategies while identifying opportunities for co-creation with external stakeholders.
- Acts as the medical expert point of contact for HCPs, medical societies, academia, and other scientific stakeholders. Leads medical to medical communication in the field and drives personalized interactions cross multiple channels while building enduring relationships with key stakeholders, institutions and scientific societies.
- Represents Medical Affairs Function and Pfizer to external medical community.
- Executes local medical engagement plans for therapeutic area (TA) of responsibility as defined by Country Medical Director and relevant Category Medical Lead, focusing on priorities and activities, emphasizing on customer facing and impact.
- Organizes/prepares medical education events for the scientific community according to the company's strategy and the identified unmet medical needs.
- Participates and interacts with HCPs in local/regional/national scientific meetings, as well as in Advisory Boards and "Speakers Training" or other meetings involving opinion leaders.
- Drives KOL and institutional involvement in Pfizer-sponsored research and initiates and enhances research collaborations with key customers.
- Provides strategic medical input and contributes to the development of portfolio strategies and tactics and company's plans through actionable customers' medical insights and identified medical needs.
- Position requires frequent local/national travel and occasional international travel.
- Approximately 60% of time customer facing.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy or Life Science.
- Previous professional experience in medical affairs (MSL or Medical/Scientific Advisor).
- At least 4 years' experience in Oncology TA in pharmaceutical industry, clinical development, or clinical research (experience in Hematology field would be considered as a plus).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, adapted to audience, paired with excellent listening ability, asking the right questions, including virtual setting and interactions.
- Ability to analyze scientific information, define and convey complex concepts and strategies in verbal and written communication.
- Good understanding of local health care system, access to products and local environment.
- Knowledge of the relevant and applicable Codes of Practice, regulations, and guidelines to ensure an effective and overall compliance.
- Awareness for compliance and legal requirements.
- IT literacy.
- Fluency in Greek and English.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Doctor or higher academic degree in relevant science area (PhD or MSc in Medicine, Pharmacy or Life Science), with strong scientific skills and/or clinical experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the local healthcare environment including its structure, policy, current legal & regulatory framework, key members, and scientific societies as well as of the drug development process.
- Knowledge/understanding of epidemiology, real world data generation and interpretation, medical statistics.
- Proven track record of using various digital tools for customer engagement and understanding newer technologies, artificial intelligence, and e-learning platforms.
- Proven interpersonal skills to seamlessly interact with internal and external stakeholders on both business and scientific issues along with negotiation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to manage financial budgets.
- Strong desire to reach challenging goals and continuously improve in line with Pfizer values such as excellence & integrity.
