Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino

Located on the southwest coast of the Peloponnese, one of the most unspoiled and breath-taking landscapes in the Mediterranean, and 45 minutes’ drive from Kalamata International Airport.

The beachfront resort is part of the sustainable resort destination of Costa Navarino, a well-established tourism destination which includes 3 other resorts. It comprises of 99 suites and villas, all with outdoor terraces and sea views, along with seven restaurants and bars.

Scope of Position:

The Head Butler focuses in keeping the hotel guest & Suite rooms, corridors, back of the house and all company assets in a perfect state of cleaning and maintenance. He/She supervises Butlers on the assigned floor and handles special requests from guests. At the same time the Head Butler keeps our Suite guest’s perspective in mind to carry out the mission of the Housekeeping department, and to reach the Mandarin Oriental Mission, Values, and Vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the established standards of conduct and house rules, fire regulations and department procedures and policies.
  • Ensures all departure Villas are checked and released promptly for re-let.
  • Inspects all Villas carefully to ensure that all special requests and amenities have been followed up.
  • Follows up on all guest requests and provides prompt service with minimal delay.
  • Ensures that all occupied and arrival expected Villas received turndown service (PM shift).
  • Spot checks Butler/Room Attendants and ensures that proper cleaning procedures and steps are taken.
  • Follows up any problems reported by the Room Attendants.
  • Provides on-the-job training & conducts Butler development training for all Butlers.
  • Performs daily/weekly scenario tests for Butlers.
  • Evaluates Butler’s performance as required.
  • Issues work orders for repairs and follows up for prompt service.
  • Ensures supplies are correctly ordered, properly stored and re-used as directed.
  • Controls and avoids wastage, including linen and mini bar items.
  • Assists with general inventories.
  • Schedules deep cleaning projects for Villas according to needs and after engineering work.
  • Is responsible for the cleanliness of the floor pantry, keeping it clean, tidy and hygienic.
  • Records and handovers any special requests or messages for follow up by the next shift.
  • Informs the Housekeeper of any unusual events as soon as possible.
  • Checks all Villas daily for maintenance condition.
  • Ensures all equipment is in good condition and working order.
  • Participates monthly to different quality check: Bed bug inspection/ pest inspection, etc.
  • Reports to security any sick or unconscious guest.
  • Reports to shift on time in issued uniform in a clean, neat and tidy appearance at all times.
  • Attends briefing and training actively.
  • Escalates issue and guests complaints with minimal delay.
  • Performs any other reasonable duties as required by the Department Head

Mandatory Requirements:

  • EU Passport or valid Residence Permit is mandatory in order to work in Greece.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in Guest Relations and/or as a Butler in a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Degree in Hospitality Management or relevant.
  • Fluency in English verbal &  written.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office.
  • Night shifts included.
