The ideal candidate will have significant experience in accounting practices and procedures, strong analytical abilities, and a deep understanding of financial regulations. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing financial transactions, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Greek accounting standards
- General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain the general ledger, including month-end and year-end close processes. Should be certified to submit tax declarations according to Greek regulations.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Internal Controls: Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during audits, ensuring all requested information is provided and ensuring compliance with audit standards.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns, including sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Accounting Systems: Ensure accounting systems and processes are up to date and optimized for accuracy and efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance reviews.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, group CEO and CFO to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA, or similar certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Skills:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong team player with a proactive approach to tasks and problem-solving.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
