Job Description
As an FTTH Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of fiber optic networks to deliver high-speed internet and telecommunications services directly to homes. You will work closely with project managers, field engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment of FTTH infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Design: Develop detailed FTTH network designs, including fiber routes, splice plans, and equipment placement.
- GIS Mapping: Utilize GIS software to create accurate network maps and documentation.
- Capacity Planning: Perform network capacity analysis and ensure designs meet current and future demand.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align design plans with construction schedules and project goals.
- Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys to gather data and assess the feasibility of network deployments.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive design documentation, including technical drawings, schematics, and project reports.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks and validate network designs to ensure reliability and performance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optic network design, specifically FTTH projects.
- Tecnical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCad) and GIS tools. Familiarity with fiber optic design software.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant codes, standards, and regulations, and ensure all designs and projects adhere to them.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of FTTH network architecture, fiber optic technology, industry standards as well as Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to construction and environmental permitting.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Clearly articulate technical information to diverse audiences.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
