The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of “Junior Mining Engineer”, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will report to the Senior Mine Planning and Design Engineer of the Technical Services – Engineering department, based in Olympias.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop drift fill notes and backfill schedules while monitoring and reporting on backfill QA/QC.
- Develop and implement backfill mine schedules and infrastructure requirements, coordinating with the backfill plant and mining operations to meet production needs.
- Manage contractors and mine employees to execute backfill scopes of work and liaise with commercial teams and suppliers for backfill materials.
- Plan and monitor the paste reticulation system for drift filling, conduct ground control inspections, and perform design audits in the operating underground mine.
- Assist in managing and maintaining the Ground Control Management Plan and Mine Design while analyzing data to ensure proper performance and taking corrective actions as required.
- Conduct underground inspections, including stopes, voids, active development headings, infrastructure, rises, and shafts, ensuring ground support design and QA/QC compliance.
- Optimize shotcrete mix design, monitor paste fill QA/QC, and maintain databases for ground support performance and downtime trends in backfill quality.
- Analyze geotechnical data, including face mapping and rock mass classification, and prepare detailed short-term layouts and infrastructure plans.
- Update and maintain 3D CAD models of weekly plans, designs, and service requirements while optimizing production through mine design and scheduling.
- Participate in ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, contributing to a safe workplace, and addressing incidents by investigating and implementing preventive measures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering (a post-graduate degree would be considered an asset).
- At least 2 years of experience in mine planning, design, and/or mining for an underground mine operation.
- Professional Engineer registration.
- A high regard for safe practices and commitment to safety protocols.
- Proficient in Microsoft, Deswik, and Autodesk Packages.
- General knowledge of Mine Planning software.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
