POSITION: Legal Counsel

 Location: Athens

Our Company, member of an International Group of Companies, is looking to hire is seeking to hire an in-house Legal Counsel, to join the Legal & Compliance Department in Greece.

The successful candidate will be actively involved in corporate law, contracts, and compliance, as well as handling day-to-day legal issues, providing legal advice on a range of topics, subject to local legislation.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

• Providing legal support in corporate law, contracts, and insurance law.
• Preparing and advising on contracts, including insurance brokerage agreements, cooperation agreements, and services agreements.
• Supporting the organization operationally, including corporate housekeeping, and the setup and merger/liquidation of subsidiaries as required.
• Assisting in developing standard legal and compliance policies, guidelines, and documentation templates.
• Supporting larger projects in cooperation with internal and external counsels.
• Stay updated on the applicable legal framework and regulations for our industry.
• Develop informed solutions to help the business respond to regulatory constraints.
• Coordinating with external counsels, regulatory authorities, internal clients, and counterparties.

Requirements and Inter-personal Competences:

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an accredited law school and qualification as a lawyer in Greece. Having an LLM in commercial, insurance, or civil law will be an added advantage.
• 3-5 years of proven experience in corporate law, commercial agreements, and insurance (or banking) law. Experience in data protection and AML/KYC legislation is a plus.
• Strong integrity and a thorough eye for compliance and corporate governance matters.
• Excellent communication skills in Greek and English, both verbally and in writing, with strong analytical skills for legal interpretation.
• Computer literacy, MS Office
• Ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
• Team player orientation, a can-do attitude, good business judgment, and attention to detail.
