A. Objective of role: Ensure the company's legal compliance with applicable laws and provide support in managing legal matters related to business activities.
B. Job Responsibilities:
- Legal support and development of a methodology for the compliance of the activities carried out in the framework of the projects with the legal provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU Regulation 2016/679)
- Legal support and development of a methodology for the compliance of the activities taking place in the framework of the projects with Regulation 2024/1689 on the development of technologies using artificial intelligence
- Legal support and development of a methodology for the compliance of the activities carried out in the framework of the projects with the ethical rules in the context of research and innovation
- Perform "Ethics Advisor" duties, whenever required in a project
- Legal support and drafting of a proposed plan for the protection of intellectual property of the technologies (results) developed in the context of the projects
- Legal support and preparation of a CE certification plan for medical devices, in accordance with the applicable provisions of EU Regulations 2017/745 for medical devices and/or EU Regulations 2017/746 for in vitro diagnostic medical devices
- Preparation of relevant deliverables, questionnaires, consent forms, activity records-logs of processing operations, privacy policies of the platforms developed as well as clinical research and instructions on the lawful development of these technologies
- Drafting and/or reviewing contracts of all kinds related to the projects, such as joint data processing agreements, data transfer agreements, contracts related to collaboration and the transfer of project know-how (such as non-disclosure agreements), or the procurement of equipment for project purposes, etc.
- Providing assistance in drafting and reviewing research protocols regarding the processing of personal data and bioethics
- Conducting gap analysis and detection of processing activities for the purpose of impact assessment whenever required. Conducting impact assessments, even in cases where it is not stipulated as a deliverable of the project, in the form of a report, to ensure compliance of the project
- Preparation of correspondence with project partners, whenever required, for the assistance of the Company's representatives
- Participation and representation of the Company in online meetings, in close meetings ("General Assemblies" etc.), in regular 18-month audits of projects by representatives of the European Commission ("periodic review meetings"), organization of informative seminars ("workshops") to partners to fulfill the above responsibilities and support to the Company
- If requested by the company, the Law Counsel will provide services for any current matters that may arise within this context, even if not explicitly stated
C. Qualifications:
- Proven experience of at least 3 years in similar projects or professional collaborations
- Relevant experience in providing legal support for European Research Programs, such as HORIZON 2020, HORIZON EUROPE, and European Defense Fund (EDF) projects will be considered as a significant advantage
- In-depth knowledge of EU funding frameworks, grant agreements, and consortium agreements
- Solid understanding of contractual requirements and obligations under EU-funded projects
- Familiarity with intellectual property rights (IPR) and technology transfer regulations related to EU-funded projects
- Expertise in Compliance Law, European Law, Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law, Data Protection Law, Corporate Law
- Extensive experience in ensuring robust compliance with European and Νational legislation relevant to research and defense programs
- Knowledge of applicable Greek and European legislation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support multidisciplinary and international consortia
