The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of “Mine Exploration Geologist”, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will report to the Supervisor Research, Resource & Projects Geologist of the Technical Services – Geology department, based in Olympias.
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning of drill borehole positions, execute drilling, capture data by lithological, mineralization’s and structural logging of each of the exploration or delineation drilling.
- Supervision of new positions for drill rigs and ensure the drill station compliance with all Hellas Gold standards.
- Drilling holes planned and completed within the approved Eldorado’s exploration strategy.
- Plan the exploration drillholes aligned with the exploration budget for 1 to 3 years
- Ensuring that core logging is done to the agreed standard and ensuring that logging is recorded in tablets, connected to Acquire Database system.
- Validating data in Acquire database to ensure integrity of data. Once validated, ensure that is ready for distributing to other departments as well.
- After ensuring its validity, will be utilized and incorporated in Leapfrog 3-D modelling software and update the geological/mineralization model to identify areas of further exploration.
- Ensuring all interpretations are verified before signed off by the Super-Intendant Mine Geologist to be approved and sent to Resource and Research and Development Geologist to update the resource wireframing.
- Supervising drilling contractors to ensure compliance with all regulations and health and safety procedures of Hellas Gold including the Golden rules.
- Coordinating the drilling information received from the contractor of the previous day’s work, is verified against the samples on a daily basis.
- Verifying the drilling meters on the monthly invoice as received from the contractor, to be utilized for preparation of bill of quantities.
- Compile a summary including drilling meters with justified deviations to be used for reporting within the monthly and weekly reports.
- Ensure compliance with all QA/QC procedures.
- Continuous Development - Keep current on new developments in geology and complimentary fields.
- Ensure models are completed within agreed timeframes to ensure next year’s exploration targets had already been decided.
- Ad hoc duties as required based on the mine technical services needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in mining operations, preferably in underground settings, as a production geologist.
- 1–3 years of experience in an exploration role.
- Knowledge of iOGas is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in advanced computer skills, including 3D-Mining Software (preferably Leapfrog) and Microsoft applications (Access) or similar geological database systems.
- Strong verbal communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in the English language.
