The job description refers to a new restaurant, opening this season, led by a Michelin-starred Chef and offering a sophisticated dining experience that showcases the distinctive flavors of Greek cuisine.
Costa Navarino is looking for a Sommelier. The selected candidate will be responsible for every aspect of the wine service, starting with the creation of the restaurant wine list and ending with floor service provided to restaurant guests.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ordering, receiving, organizing, and selling wine labels in the F&B outlet. Also, for promoting and maximizing wine sales. Advising and recommending to guests according to their personal needs.
- Oversee restaurant wine purchases and cost management with the assistance of the Restaurant Manager.
- Ensure proper mis-en-place for wine service, as well as correct handling, use, storage, and cleaning of all wine service equipment.
- Maintain an accurate wine list and propose new wines or promotions to Head Sommelier.
- Follow company’s wine service standards. Ensure that all wines are served and presented to guests in the proper procedure, while making wine and food recommendations.
- Communicate any issues, challenges and complaints to Restaurant Manager in a timely manner.
- Ensure company policies, in regard to drinking age limits are followed as well as control alcohol consumption levels by guests.
- Follow company guidelines regarding uniforms and personal hygiene.
- Follow all rules, relevant policies, SOPs, and standards at all times. Guide and encourage team to do the same.
- Attend all trainings and seminars provided by the company and continuously remain updated for all trends and market news
Requirements
- Three years in the same position in a luxury setting
- High school Diploma or Associate’s degree
- WSET qualification, Level 3 or CMS Level
- Good knowledge of English, both verbal and written
- Passionate about wine and wine service
- Ability to operate restaurant and other relevant software and computer skills
- Selling and upselling skills
- Customer service, selling and upselling skills
- Good perception of pricing, budgeting and cost control
