Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of electrical components and materials, with a primary focus on those used in electrical switchboards and parts associated with power generators. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of electrical drawings, specifications, and industry standards, ensuring that all procured materials align with project requirements. They will be tasked with sourcing high-quality components at the most competitive prices, ensuring that cost-effectiveness is achieved without compromising quality or project timelines

Key Responsibilities:

• Procurement Process Management:
• Identify and source electrical components, materials, and services required for projects, with a focus on switchboards and associated systems.
• Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure the best value for the company.
• Issue purchase orders and manage supplier contracts in accordance with company policies and project timelines.
• Technical Expertise:
• Interpret and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to determine material and component requirements.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure that all procured items meet the necessary technical standards and project specifications.
• Provide technical support to the procurement and project teams, advising on the suitability and availability of components.
• Supplier Management:
• Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring a reliable supply chain.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and service, and implement improvements where necessary.
• Stay updated with the latest developments and innovations in electrical components and materials to identify potential improvements or cost savings.
• Cost Management:
• Monitor and control project procurement budgets, ensuring all purchases are within the allocated budget.
• Analyse cost trends and provide cost-saving strategies without compromising quality or project deadlines.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance:
• Ensure all purchased materials and components comply with relevant industry standards and company quality requirements.
• Coordinate with quality assurance teams to address any issues related to the quality of procured items.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, supplier communications, and material specifications.
• Prepare and present regular procurement reports to management, highlighting key metrics such as cost savings, supplier performance, and project status.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on electrical components and systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Familiarity with electrical switchboard components, such as circuit breakers, relays, busbars, and control systems.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
• Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electrical components and systems.
