Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Cosmetics Buyer to develop and execute merchandising strategies that drive sales, optimize margins, increase inventory turnover, and enhance visual presentation. This role requires building strong vendor relationships, negotiating payment terms with both existing and new suppliers, and ensuring a balanced product assortment that meets customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective buying strategies, manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) plans, and select the product assortment.
- Generate reports, analyze sales performance by store, and provide actionable insights to optimize business performance.
- Analyze category performance, seasonality, and market trends to make informed decisions for future purchasing and inventory strategies.
- Source and evaluate new brands and partnerships, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Cultivate strong relationships with vendors and lead negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, new brands, and market shifts to maintain a competitive edge.
- Efficiently manage stock levels throughout the season and at season-end, ensuring optimal sales and inventory turnover.
- Conduct buying appointments and meetings both in Greece and abroad, effectively managing supplier interactions.
- Perform any other reasonable ad hoc tasks as requested by management.
Skills & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in a similar buying .
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Retail Merchandising, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing budgets of €1M or more.
- Experience working across multiple cosmetics categories, including Selective, Niche, Natural, and Mass.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence and defend decisions.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address problems efficiently.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, both internally and externally.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently when needed.
- Exceptional judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Discreet, professional, and well-spoken with a collaborative and approachable working style.
- High level of market awareness, fashion trends, and a keen understanding of the cosmetics industry.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 10% of the time).
