PURPOSE

Attending to guests by welcoming and seating them. Cater to their requirements by taking food and beverage orders, serving food and beverages to customers, and attending to customers' needs.

Communicating the orders to the kitchen effectively, memorizing the menu, and offering recommendations to upsell appetizers, desserts, drinks, etc. in line with Jumeirah standard operating procedure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Handling Guests

• Greet guests with a warm welcome and smile. Escort them to their tables. Answer inquiries about food and beverage items on the menu

• Assist guests by explaining how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods, where applicable

• Be aware of allergy information on menu items and inform guests where needed or inquired

• Inform guests of daily specials or special items/promotions not listed on the menu

• Check customer's identification to ensure they meet alcohol legal age requirements or requirements as per local law

• Offer food and wine suggestions. Take food and beverage orders accurately including any special requests. Inform the Kitchen as per the request

• Input the order into PO System, if needed

• Work with bartenders to fill beverage orders. Work with kitchen staff to process and expedite food orders

• Deliver and serve food at tables. Use established food handling and serving techniques as per Jumeirah standard

• Maintain the table setting by clearing courses as completed, cleaning and maintaining the server stations, replacing utensils, refreshing water glasses, dealing with spills, moving dishes and glasses from tables or counters, take them to the kitchen for cleaning

Specific Duties

• Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware as applicable

• Assist in the preparation of sufficient and clean, operating equipment prior to the commencement of service

• Ensure that high standards of personal hygiene and grooming are strictly observed and followed

• Ensure the guests of the outlet experience an enjoyable and memorable by following the outlet sequence of service

• Ensure that correct operating standards are adhered to achieve the level of service established in the operations manual

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals

• Handle guests' inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints or problems to the Team Leaders if no immediate solution can be found

• Ensure adherence to departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions enabling delivery of luxurious service to guests in line with Jumeirah standard of excellence

• Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety, and Environment procedures, instructions, and controls

Internal: SBU F&B Colleagues, SBU Housekeeping, SBU Front Office

External: Guests, Outsourced Casual workers, Cleaners

 

QUALIFICATIONS

(MINIMUM EDUCATION)

Essential

• Higher Secondary School Certificate or Country specific certification

• Basic Food and Hygiene Training

EXPERIENCE

• At least 1 year of experience as a waiter/waitress in a luxury hotel.
